HOW CATS SHOW LOVE is a question that many cat lovers ask. I want a cat kiss from my pet. If I kiss my cat, can my cat kiss me back? Your cat does let you know you are loved with their eyes. Notice how your pets eyes widen and narrow, then look relaxed. Now notice how they look when they are alert to a sudden noise or danger. There is a big difference. When you pick your cat up to cuddle him, he may not want the sudden attention and his eyes widen and he looks annoyed. Often your cat will let you know when he wants attention and that might be a different time than you had planned. Cats are very independent pets. A lot of their needs for attention vary with the breed of cat you have taken into your home. All cats will immediately let you know if your loving attention is needed or not.
Sometimes it is just a matter of trust with your cat. Did you get your cat as a kitten? If you did, you probably had the opportunity to hold him and pet him when he was acquiring his personality and independence. An old cat will usually not take to the holding and cuddling immediately upon moving into your home. First, you have to prove yourself worthy to a cat. Cats rule! They are sovereign, never subject. Let your older cat make the first move when it comes to love. You won’t have to guess when the time is right, your cat will let you know.
Cats kiss with their eyes. You will see the love there first. Don’t try to stare into your cat’s eyes. They hold their thoughts secret and they resent intrusion. Look into your cats eyes, then smile and look away. Gently pet your cat and talk very softly to your cat. If your cat relaxes and opens and shuts his paws with his claws covered, your cat is loving you back. If your cat remains uneasy or his eyes narrow, he isn’t in the mood. If his claws extend and you feel his body tense, better gently release him and let him go. Always remember to thank him in a gentle voice for the opportunity to hold him.
If you let your love grow over time, your cat will feel safe and loved when you invade his privacy. Often he will make the first love move when you lest expect it. He might jump into your lap, sit on your computer keyboard, nap on your pillow, or walk between your feet when you are fixing dinner. When your cat does these things, you have been accepted into his world. Don’t take your privilege for granted. One sharp word or unkind action will place you at the back of the line and you will be required to wait until your cat makes the next love move.
There is nothing better than a cat. Once you have worked out the house rules and you know what you may or may not do, your cat will allow you many hours of great companionship. He will be a noble creature and a deserving friend. Enjoy your cat and let your cat kiss you with his eyes today.
How to Pet Your Cat
This is a short but helpful guide to giving your cat proper petting massages. Remember not all cats like these petting techniques, but most of them do. I have been petting cats for over twenty years now and these are the techniques I found most common. Enjoy!
